Long Time No Hear - Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe

performance / music, REST

part of REST

Due to the current health crisis, a lot of us were obliged to miss both live music and their friends for a long time. For LONG TIME NO HEAR, Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe invites old and brand new friends he has not heard from for a long time. To make themselves be heard again, he curates a musical evening for REST. It is a happy reunion with a childhood friend, a pianist, a dancer who will be singing and many more. The evening is conceived as a casual combination of mostly acoustic acts, as an ode to music, revival, connections, sounds and vibrations.
With amongst others: Clément Corillon, Eurudike de Beul, Maya Dhondt,  Andie Dushime, Hanako Hayakawa, Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe and Sylvain Wuyts

Gouvernement & Opera Ballet Vlaanderen
REST is located in the peristyle of Opera Ghent, right behind the open doors. In the middle of the space, an installation by Decoratelier defines a semicircle. This structure is a trace of Night Shift. An event by Gouvernement and Opera Ballet Vlaanderen that couldn’t take place, but the scenography remained courageously and helped transform the space to REST. The space is a remnant, but it is a public resting point too. And for now, it is especially a space for re-opening.
During three weekends in June, REST turns into a platform for presentation. On the programm, there are some collectives that should have performed during Night Shift, but new connections are made too. That gives rise to a diverse program for which music is always central, but from that centre of gravity, the projects fan out to all corners of the artistic spectrum.
