Hannah Jamin Zaouad

hoe zeg je “je kom terug”? is an exploration of the position of the Rifian diaspora in the Rif region of Morocco. Have they become tourists? And what is the impact of “return tourism” on the landscape, the climate, and the language of Arif?

In search of their own place in the region where their roots lie but whose language they do not speak, the maker brings together film, interviews, and poetry – not to unravel this complex tangle, but to make a part of it perceptible.

Hannah Jamin Zaouad (or Hahahana for friends, acquaintances, and strangers) loves brooding, musings, and their cat. These (the mental twists and turns, not the cat) they like to translate into various media: from poetry to film to theater to collages – and preferably all at once. In their work, Hannah Jamin tries to understand events in their surroundings through a political lens.
