Collectif Faire-Part is a group of Belgian and Congolese filmmakers that make documentaries about the many complex relations between Brussels and Kinshasa. Since they started in 2017, their own collaboration has been a subject of interest for them. In questioning the dynamics of the collective and the complications of working together, they reflect on broader underlying power structures. In ‘Mikili / Le Monde ’ they explore the myths about cities like Brussels and Paris that live in the minds of many Congolese, as well as some of the false conceptions many Europeans have about what it means to flee one’s country. A heartfelt testimony of one of the filmmaker’s doubts of returning home after a residency in France and Belgium are paired with touristic videos of his trip.
