“La veu de les (d)ones” (= the voice of women / the waves) is an investigation into the struggles that women face in our current society. It’s a celebration of the power of the female voice and a transdisciplinary experimentation in which three performers seek their way in a sea of brightly coloured fabrics through dance, music, the female singing voice and scenography. With this piece we want to highlight how womens voices are still undervalued. Often times their views, opinions and ideas are still brushed off or deemed insignificant. It is inspired by the tales of a very feminine mythical creature, the mermaid, and how this symbol reflects the struggles of women in today’s society. It is necessary to keep speaking up about this matter in life and through art.
