Rope
Ief Spincemaille traverses visual art, design and performance, combining wonder and poetry with a strongly committed, sometimes even socio-political practice. Since his projects are inspired by a childish wonder for simple phenomena, he casts a light on things like the immense versatility of a rope. Rope is a hand-braided, 196 kg heavy, 60 meters long rope with a diameter of 30 cm. It’s disproportionally big and has therefore lost all function. As he travels the world with Rope, which needs eleven people to be carried around, Spincemaille searches for new functions and meanings for the rope. Or in Rope’s words: Do something with me!
