Geistnight Vol.5 : Vincent Lynen (exhibition/concert/film)
Geistnight offers an artist the time and space to outline some focal points of his work, life and inspirations. A presentation or performance of own work it can be, but ideally it’s a cross-disciplinary get-together with kindred spirits and fellow artists.
Vincent Lynen takes on edition 5.
Vincent Lynen (Bilzen, 1993) is a young artist who explores the absurdity of everyday life in his drawings, miniature paintings and animation films. His world is populated by men, ‘chicks’, dogs, guns and mopeds. In a seemingly simplistic way, he creates a ludicrous tension between his subjects.
The narrative is never critical, form and action all the more. His short film ‘Play Boys’ has been selected for the film festivals of Gent, Leuven & Clermont Ferrand. At the latter he won the Canal+ award in the labo competition.
For this 4 day exposition he invites Lukas Verstraete, Tim Colmant, Jef Staut, , Simon Lynen, Yorick Van de Walle.
On the opening night he is also a musician in FRANKIE, an occasional backing band for a motorized puppet performance.
DJ-collective HARDE SMART finishes off with a set of obscure yet funky classics from the golden era of Flemish and Dutch pop/folk.
