Masterclass KASK - Nele Keukelier
education, NWNM

Part of NWNM

Since the establishment of big institutions there have been underground organisations who have been operating in the cultural margins. Bottom-up collectives, most of them artist-run, always had a fruitful role in the field. Being considered as the humus of the artistic ecosystem, they exist in many forms and practices and like to provoke and flirt with legality. Their existence almost always arose from a desire for freedom and very often a lack of space.

In this course for Master students at Kask Nele Keukelier gives insight in the dynamics these initiatives instigate and puts them in a broader cultural perspective. She draws from her own experience with Gouvernement VZW and her familiarity with the cultural context In Ghent/Flanders.
