Elysia Crampton & Why be / Chino Amobi
Concert / with Vooruit

Fri 25.05 → 20:00-23:00

Two evenings of performances by the avant-garde of the African diaspora.

NON is a collective of African artists and of the African diaspora who use sound as their primary media, to articulate the visible structures that create binaries in society, and in turn distribute power. Founded in 2015 by the Belgian-Congolese Nkisi – a Vooruit resident since 2017 – alongside Chino Amobi and Angel-Ho, NON is both an experimental electronics record label, a radical art project and a social network that has been fighting against the silencing of black culture and is aiming to decolonise dancefloors all over the world. During the events, 4 of their key artists will be performing; from Bolivian experimentalist Elysia Crampton (in collaboration with Why Be) to South African avant-garde GQOM duo Faka to NON founders Nkisi and Chino Amobi themselves.
The entrance is free

After the concerts of Elysia Crampton & Why Be and Chino Amobi at Gouvernement, there will be a DJ-set. The next day, Faka and Nkisi will perform at Vooruit Café.

Organised by Vooruit and Gouvernement, as part of the The May Events by Vooruit.
