The smallest gay* bar in the world!
(*gay adjective (HAPPY) We had a gay old time down at the bar / If a place is gay, it is bright and attractive)

Bebe Books is launching the world’s smallest gay* bar Ever! at GIF 2022. Together with Brussels based collective Every Island, they are transforming the veranda pavilion at Kunstencentrum Vooruit into an interactive café. Expect lots of joy, cocktails, and a looooooong queue. Let yourself be enchanted into the gayest world ever with karaoke, bingo, glory holes, dark rooms and so much more… The first come first serve principle applies and stay as long as you want, your wait will be rewarded.

Every island is a design collective investigating performativity in space through ephemeral architectures and installations. Using ambiguity as a design tool, we think of space as scenography for transitions, of roles, of stages and of meanings. Within each project, materiality is conceived as a reminiscence of hidden memories, images, sensations. Every island was formed in early 2021 by Alessandro Cugola, Caterina Malavolti, Damir Draganić, Juliane Seehawer, Martina Genovesi.
Bebe Books is a queer collective based in Ghent. The collective started as an independent publisher but became more active in community-based practices such as organizing queer events.
